My Portfolio of Projects

I want to change the perceptions of the world about refugees and shape the narratives around the Refugee Crisis. I would like the world to see refugees as people they can collaborate and work together with to achieve common goals, not only as victims of violence and war.

I am the Founder and Chairperson of Refugee Youth Peace Ambassadors, a youth-led group which brings together refugee youth from different nationalities and backgrounds who are contributing to the building of positive peace in their communities. Our initiatives help to enhanced peaceful coexistence between the refugees’ communities in the camp.

Mohamed Hure works for UNHCR and  is in charge of education at the Kakuma Refugee Camp. He is first a Humanitarian and then an Education Practitioner. Nearly 52 schools and a multitude of partners comes under his preview. Hure is one of the biggest champions behind StepUp.One.

• Responsible for the coordination and management of the UNHCR education program in Kakuma camps and Kalobeyei settlement
• Development and implementation education strategies in line with the global UNHCR strategy and national level strategies
• Advocacy for integration of refugee education into national systems
• Designing and supporting the development of concept notes and proposals for various funding streams
• Supporting the implementation of various ICT for Education initiatives such as Skype in the Classrooms, Vodafone Foundation funded Instant Networked Schools(INS), Google.org/Kolibri platform etc
